Lebanon Touristic Places
• BEIRUT

Beirut, A city with a venerable past, 5000 years ago, Beirut was a prosperous town in the Canaanite and Phoenician coast.
Beirut survived a decade and a half of conflict and so has earned the right to call itself "the city that would not die"
Night life in Beirut is non-stop. Discos, dinner-dancing, bars and pub of every variety invite you to join the fun.
• BAALBECK

On the place of a very old religious site, the Phoenicians set up a magnificent sanctuary dedicated to the worship of Baal. However, the most important constructions of the Acropolis of Baalbeck date from the Roman times.
A great cultural complex gathers 3 major edifices:
- The temple of Jupiter
- The temple of Bacchus
- The temple of Venus
• ANJAR

Anjar , city is located 55 Km East of Beirut in the frontier zone of the Bekaa.
Walls of 370 m in length surround the castle of Anjar, secondary sumptuous residence of the Ommeyyades Caliphes. It was once full of mosaics, frescos, relief and stone engravings. It borrows the corinthain ramparts from the Romans and other ornamental and architectural elements from the Byzantines.
• BEITEDDINE

A magnificent Palace, pure specimen of national architecture of early XIXth Century.
The great Emir Chehab, ruler of Mount Lebanon, built it over a period of thirty years.
Sumptuous residence of the Princes, the palace presents both elements of Islamic architecture and Venetian gothic-renaissance architecture.
• BYBLOS

Coastal city, located 37 Km North of Beirut, Byblos (called now Jbeil) is the world's oldest continuously inhabited town. Situated on a cliff, it marks the site of the most ancient port of the world and a once flourishing commercial center.
The visitor will be astonished at the number of superimposed cultural layers: Neolithic, Phoenician, Assyrian, Egyptian, Greek and Roamn.
• CEDARS

Simply known as " The Cedars " , this resort settlement in Lebanon's highest range is one of the most dramatically beautiful spots in the country. Its centerpiece is an ancient grove of cedars, a tree synonymous for millennia with Lebanon itself.
In Summer, the high elevation makes it a wonderful escape from the humid coast, while in winter skiing is the favorite activity.
• JEITA

20 Km North of Beirut, the breathtaking Jeita grottoes have welcomed thousands of visitors. Stalactites and Stalagmites evoking the fauna and the flora, water falls, lakes, natural columns, a surrealistic world that intrigues the spectator.
• SIDON

Located 48 Km South of Beirut, Sidon (called today Saida) is one of the famous names in history.
Sidon is famous for a variety of local sweets which you can watch being made in the old souk or in shops on the main street.
A growing city with a modern seaport, Sidon is the South's commercial and financial center.
• TRIPOLI

75 Km North of Beirut, is located the 2nd Capital of Lebanon. Tripoli a coastal city and the sea, the castle of St. Gilles stands proudly.The city contains many Mamlouk Buildings, such as the great Mosque of Teynal.Not to forget the tour (la Tour du Lion) in this areas as Al Mina port, the Khans and the Hammams with domes, places of relaxation and pleasure.
• TYRE

Located on the Lebanese coast, 83 Km South of the Capital, the visitor can discover the paved path that crosses a majestic Arch of Triumph, a Roman aqyeduct, one of the first hippodromes, a field of Roman sarcophagus, mosaic parterres and many other ruins that escaped the Assyrians, the Persians and the Arab destruction.
• FARAYA

Faraya is the name of the village just below the actual slopes in Ouyoune El-Simane; however the whole area is located in Kfardebian village which includes the best equipped and most popular resort of Lebanon.The skiing season in Lebanon is similar in length to that of the Alps stretching over a period of 4 months. Starting at 1850m, you may reach the 2465m top of Mzaar and enjoy the breathtaking view.
• HARISSA

Harissa located at 650 meters altitude from the coast and 20km distance from Beirut the capital city; It attracts both pilgrims as other tourists who want to enjoy views of Jounieh. The statue was made at the end of the 19th century and inaugurated in 1908. Inside the statue's base there is a small chapel.
